She subsequently acted in the films Red Sonja and Rocky IV, later returning to the Rocky series in Creed II (). Nielsen starred in the film Cobra alongside her then-husband Sylvester Stallone. She played a villain in Beverly Hills Cop II () and starred as the Black Witch in the s Italian film series Fantaghirò. She later built a career starring in B-movies, hosting TV shows, and appearing on reality shows.

Statuesque actress Brigitte Nielsen enjoyed brief Hollywood stardom in the mids opposite her then-husband, Sylvester Stallone, in such films as "Rocky IV" (), but found more lasting fame as a unapologetic participant in numerous reality series, including "The Surreal Life" (The WB/VH1, ). Born Gitte Nielsen in Rodovre, a suburb of Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 15, , she had a relatively normal childhood, marked by an interest in swimming and work at a local bakery. But at the age of 16, Nielsen decided to leave school to pursue a career in modeling. Her Scandinavian heritage and considerable height - she stood 6'1" - made her a striking representative for some of international fashion's most famous lines, including Versace and Armani. Producer Dino De Laurentiis invited her to audition for an action film he was producing, and in , Nielsen made her acting debut in "Red Sonja," a fantasy film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and co-starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film did modest business at the box office, but Nielsen drew more headlines for a relationship with Sylvester Stallone that culminated in marriage just 19 months after their first meeting. Born and educated in Copenhagen, Brigitte Neilsen began modeling as a teenager after literally being &#;spotted on the street&#; because of her striking height, red hair and amazing bone structure. For three years she traveled throughout Europe, posing for fashion photographers and displaying new lines of clothing in some of the continent’s most important fashion shows.

Soon, however, Nielsen tired of the strenuous routine and constant competition, and began searching for new challenges. On a brief trip to Milan between auditions for television roles, she received a telephone call from Dino De Laurentiis who had seen her on the cover of Photo Magazine in a picture by Marco Emili. De Laurentiis invited her to audition in Rome for the title role in his fantasy/adventure film co-starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Red Sonja. Over the following month, Neilsen trained for her film debut role with swords and on horseback. Once filming had begun, she realized that her experiences as a model had prepared her for the rigorous filmmaking process finding that acting is very similar to modeling.

With Rocky IV about to go into production, Stallone added an extra role for his girlfriend, writing the part of the sexy Soviet especially for Brigitte.
