It’s easy to spot a super-villain by the costumes they wear or the powers they possess. It’s scarier when they’re rich. Wealth signifies power, and few people in Metropolis are more powerful than the brilliant self-made business magnate, Lex Luthor. But how many of those living in the City of Tomorrow truly know the man behind the money? When one takes a close look at his background, frightening things begin to emerge. And when you start to look into the abyss of man’s yearning for power, it isn’t long before the abyss looks back at you. Such is the scenario for a tabloid reporter, one of DC’s most beloved heroes and the biggest criminal cover-up in all of DC history. Let’s guardedly crack open the never-to-be-published Lex Luthor: The Unauthorized Biography.

    THE PREMISE:

Reporter Peter Sands is out of luck. His bills are past due, he owes money in child support, no respected publication wants to hire him and he stinks of vomit and alcohol (and it’s not even lunchtime). Luckily for him, book publisher focused on celebrities calls him up wanting something juicy on a top Metropolis citizen. On a whim, Sands picks Lex Luthor, the billionaire CEO of LexCorp.

After doing some initial digging, Sands—a decent reporter underneath the rubble of alcoholism—begins finding holes in Luthor’s public biography. He starts looking into people who knew the super-genius in his early years and dark revelations start to come into focus. Sands is on the right track for a killer story about the real Lex Luthor, but soon enough, he begins getting violent warnings for him to back off the story. In fear for his life, Sands decides to turn to the one man he knows Luthor has no power over, but can he get to Superman before his time runs out?

    Lex luthor: The Unauthorized Biography

    February 16,
    Lex Luthor.

    Pre-Crisis[]

    Alexei Luthor[]

When Luthor first appeared in , he was portrayed with a full head of red hair; however, in Luthor came to be portrayed as completely bald after an artist's mistake in the Superman comic strip. Shuster preferred drawing bald villains anyway, and so following approval from Siegel, the more striking appearance was adopted and became a Luthor trademark. The change may also have been the result of confusion with another villain, the Ultra-Humanite, who was originally a bald scientist.

The origin of Alexei Luthor is unknown; even his nationality is not certain (He was first addressed only as 'Luthor', which is a German surname. 'Alexei', a Russian name, was revealed much later). Using his scientific genius, he attempted to sabotage a European peace conference, but was stopped by Superman. Although he discovered Superman's weakness to Kryptonite, Luthor ultimately failed to kill him. When the DC multiverse began to take hold in the s, the red-haired Luthor was stated to be the bald Luthor's counterpart from another dimension, specifically Earth-Two. In his later years, he encountered his Earth-One counterpart, and they each attempted to defeat the other's version of Superman. During the Crisis on Infinite Earths, when Alexei challenged Lex's partnership with Brainiac during the Villain War, Brainiac murdered Alexei to quell the dispute.

    Lex Luthor[]

The original Luthor (who did not have a first name) was one of many pulps-inspired mad scientists who plotted to take over the world, or destroy it, through the use of various diabolical schemes. He donned disguises a few times, but generally he preferred to make himself known to the world as his master plans came to fruition until he was foiled, time and time again, by the Man of Steel. In , it was explained that during his youth, Luthor had been friends with Superboy, but later blamed him for a laboratory accident that caused h

    Comics character

Alexander Joseph "Lex" Luthor () is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Lex Luthor originally appeared in Action Comics #23 (cover dated: April ). Lex Luthor is considered to be "The World's Greatest Criminal Mastermind", and has since endured as the archenemy of the superheroSuperman.

From the s to the mids, Lex Luthor was depicted as a narcissistic and egotistical mad scientist. Since the mid-late s, he has more often been portrayed as the power-obsessed CEO of LexCorp. He wishes to rid the world of Superman, ostensibly because he views Superman as a threat to humanity, but in reality because he envies Superman's popularity and influence. Given his high profile as a supervillain, however, he has often come into conflict with Batman and other superheroes in the DC Universe. Lex Luthor is physically an ordinary human and has no natural superpowers, but he is a genius with a high aptitude for business, politics, science, and technology. He is typically portrayed as a mad scientist lacking a secret identity, costume, or other elements of supervillains, but he occasionally wears his warsuit, a suit of mechanized armor that gives him enhanced strength, flight, advanced weaponry, and other capabilities. While Lex is primarily depicted as a supervillain allied with other villains, such as Metallo, Parasite and Bizarro, and frequently leading DC supervillain teams such as the Legion of Doom, he has also been portrayed as an antihero who will ally himself with Superman and o
