US delegation assures Mushaal full support for safe release of Yasin Malik
ISLAMABAD: A high level US delegation on Sunday called on Peace and Culture Organisation Chairperson Mushaal Hussein Mullick to express solidarity with her and 10 year old Raziyah Sultana over the unjust and illegal detention of Yasin Malik and the unabated human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The interfaith harmony delegation comprising Michael Crowe, Lucas Bontrager, Dr. Joe’s Knight, Anwer Qasmi, Ilyas Masih, and Daud Ilyas expressed grave concerns over the unfair and inhuman treatment meted out to Yasin Malik.
Mushaal, who is the wife of Yasin Malik, Co-chairperson Rehana Hussein Mullick, Secretary General Sabien Hussein Mullick, and other office bearers of the Peace and Culture Organisation apprised the delegation that Yasin Malik was kept in death cell for his sole crime to raise voice against Indian unlawful subjugation. They said that Yasin was the most powerful voice of Kashmir peaceful struggle to break the shackles of Indian slavery.
The Hurriyat leader went on to say that the voice of Kashmir freedom struggle was implicated in false and fabricated cases just to reduce the intensity of Kashmir independent movement. The chairperson expressed fear that the brutal authorities could torture Yasin to death as dozens of Hurriyat leaders and young Kashmiris had already been killed in detention.
Therefore, Mushaal requested that the delegation should not only press their own government but should raise the issue of Yasin Malik’s unlawful detention and continued human rights violations at global forums.
The Peace and Culture team urged the world powers and UN bodies to press the fascist Narendra Modi-led Hindutva regime to resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute as per the UN agreed formula and aspirations of Kashmiri people.
On the occasion, the American delegation assured them that they would raise the issue of illeg ISLAMABAD: Former Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Human Rights and Women Empowerment Mushaal Hussein Mullick has stressed the need for increased women engagement in social and digital arenas, stressing that their financial independence was a pivotal pillar to unlock the true potential of the nation. Speaking at a seminar held in connection with International Women’s Day titled ‘Breaking Barriers: Roles, Challenges, and Opportunities for Women Empowerment in the Digital Age’ as chief guest, Ms Mullick said women’s empowerment and human rights encompassed a wide range of interconnected areas, each contributing to the overall goal of achieving gender equality and ensuring the rights and dignity of all individuals. “…..let us vow to support and empower women in all areas of life. Together, we can build a world where gender equality is not just a goal, but a reality. Let us seize this opportunity to create a better, more inclusive world for future generations,” she added. She made it clear that no nation in the world could make progress without empowering their women and they needed to admit the bitter reality and worked tirelessly for realising the dream to give due constitutional, legal and Islamic rights to them. Mushaal Mullick, who is wife of senior incarcerated Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, revealed that despite a limited timeframe and mandate of the caretaker government, she as special assistant to prime minister on human rights and women empowerment had given a robust ‘100-day Plan’ aimed at enhancing the overall human rights landscape and promoting women empowerment in Pakistan. She further elaborated that the plan encompassed a wide array of initiatives spanning critical areas such as gender equality, education, economic empowerment, healthcare, violence against women, political participation, legal rights, reproductive rights, freedom from discrimination, child marriage, access to justice, media representation, access to technology and social an New Delhi, Nov 7 (IANS): Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the wife of jailed Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief, Yasin Malik, wrote to Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, urging him to initiate a debate in Parliament for her husband, who she claims can bring peace to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Mullick, a former assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on human rights and women empowerment, believes that Yasin Malik's role in the ongoing peace process in J&K is critical and that his plight must be addressed urgently. "Rahul Ji, Yasin Malik could be a force for peace in Jammu and Kashmir, if only he is given a fair chance," Mullick wrote, urging the Congress leader to intervene before Malik's deteriorating health leads to irreversible consequences. "The ongoing treatment of my husband is nothing short of torture, and I request you to help us secure justice for him," she added. In a letter to Gandhi, Mullick drew attention to the ongoing legal battles her husband faces, particularly a decades-old sedition case in which the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has now demanded the death penalty. Malik, who has been at the forefront of Kashmir's separatist movement, is currently involved in challenging the NIA's appeal for capital punishment in a terror funding case. The NIA's charges stem from a 2017 investigation into terror financing involving Malik along with several others. In 2022, Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment by a trial court after he pleaded guilty to the charges. However, according to Mullick, Malik's detention and the demand for his death sentence are "part of a broader political vendetta." She claimed that since 2019, the BJP-led central government has subjected Malik to "inhumane" treatment, and his trials have been "politically motivated." "Malik is being tried for waging war against India in a 35-year-old case, and now, fabricated charges are being used to demand his execution," Mullick alleged in the lett National / World
Speaking at a seminar organized by Islamabad High Court Bar Association to condemn India and discuss the disputed judgment against JKLF chief Yasin Malik here, she thanked the Bar for holding the event to raise her voice against unjust and inhuman treatment meted out to the Kashmiri leader.
She said that the world should build pressure on India to impose severe sanctions or else it would be next to impossible to stop the reign of terror in the occupied valley.
Michael, who is Chairperson Peace and Culture Organization, said that it was the right time to highlight the issue of Yasin Malik’s illegal detention at every forum because he was battling for life.
The chairperson expressed fear that Yasin Malik was kept in a death cell in isolation and they were worried about his life because notorious Indian police were known for torturing to death, as dozen of senior Hurriyat leaders and young freedom fighters had already been tortured to death in jails. She lauded the Bar for its efforts and appealed to them to accelerate their efforts and help her to fight his case at the International Court of Justice, UN, EU, and OIC forums.
Mushaal stated that Yasin believed in the peaceful struggle; however, they implicated him in false, fabricated, and concocted cases to keep him silent. She said that the fascist authorities used brutal tactics, as he was neither provided the much-needed medicines despite fast deteriorating health condition nor his counsel was allowed to meet him.
The Hurriyat leader asked the legal fraternity to play their role to ensure the safe release of Yasin who has been battling for life in the death cell. The chairperson vowed that the brutal government c
