Political pundit, author, and general liberal nemesis Ann Coulter made non-Trump related news this weekend after she was forced to give up her Delta Airline seat, and has not let the matter go on Twitter. This morning, real-life Captain America stepped in.

I totally get it. It costs me 75k to brush my teeth. I must pre-select a brush, investigate types of paste, and periodically spit bullshit❄️

The controversial former campaign strategist began the tweetstorm on Saturday after she was removed from her pre-booked and paid-for seat flying Delta from New York to West Palm Beach, Florida. Using the plane’s wifi, she fired off at least 32 tweets about the incident, insulting and attacking the airline and crew. According to NBC News, there was some confusion boarding the plane and “The airline said it ‘inadvertently’ moved Coulter to a window seat from an aisle seat while trying to accommodate several passengers with seating requests.” A flight attendant eventually stepped in and everyone moved back to their ticket-assigned seats, and the flight continued on as normal. Delta also offered to refund Coulter $30 dollars.

However, Coulter’s tweeting about the incident continued on into Sunday, creating a firestorm of attention on Twitter. As Coulter refused to let the matter go, the first Avenger and Boston-born actor Chris Evans used his Twitter to troll the troll, with his response gaining over 26 thousand likes, nearly four thousand retweets, and many, many Captain America gifs.

Evans has frequently used Twitter to express political opinions, and says he isn’t afraid of backlash for what he says or tweets, telling Esquire

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter spent parts of Saturday, Sunday, and Monday tweeting complaints about Delta Airlines after she said the airline gave away her assigned seat, one with extra room for which she paid a premium. Coulter also tweeted a photo of the woman to whom the airline supposedly gave her seat and compared Delta employees to animal handlers and Cold War-era East German police.

After the airline said it would refund Coulter the $30 she allegedly spent on the seat upgrade and deemed her insults “unacceptable and unnecessary,” Coulter posted her most roundly criticized tweet of the entire saga, claiming that pre-selecting the seat, doing research on flights, and periodically checking for different seating options cost her “$10,000 of my time.”

Of the more than 5,000 replies Coulter received at the time of this article’s publication, the most popular came from actor and Sudbury native Chris Evans, who mocked Coulter’s lofty valuation of her own time.

“I totally get it,” Evans wrote. “It costs me 75k to brush my teeth. I must pre-select a brush, investigate types of paste, and periodically spit bull****.”

Evans ended his tweet with the snowflake emoji, perhaps referencing the pejorative term popularized by conservatives for people who they consider to be too politically correct or easily offended.

Evans frequently uses his Twitter to tweet and retweet criticisms of President Donald Trump, and to share his positions on current events, such as the debate over net neutrality and the Adam Jones Fenway Park incident.

Delta Air Lines has just earned itself an unlikely ally in its beef with Ann Coulter: Captain America himself.

“Avengers” actor Chris Evans took to Twitter to tweak Coulter, who recently tweeted dozens of complaints at Delta, chastising them for giving away her reserved seat on a flight from New York to West Palm Beach, Fla., over the weekend.

At one point during her Twitter tirade, Coulter even claimed to have spent “$10,000 of my time to pre-select the seat I wanted, investigate type of plane & go back periodically to review seat options,” despite only paying a $30 premium for the privilege of reserving one of Delta’s roomier Comfort+ seats.

It was this particular remark that prompted Evans to troll Coulter with a sarcastic response on Monday evening.

“I totally get it,” tweeted Evans on Monday afternoon. “It costs me 75k to brush my teeth. I must pre-select a brush, investigate types of paste, and periodically spit bulls--t.”

Evans punctuated his tweet with a snowflake emoji — a likely reference to the conservative slang term "snowflake," which is sometimes used to refer to liberals.

Evans has been critical of conservative figures in the past, most notably on Twitter, where he blasted Donald Trump for “energizing lies” and giving a position to Jeff Sessions. He was also once quoted as saying Steve Bannon “has no place in politics” in a March interview with Esquire magazine.

As of Tuesday morning, Evans' post had been retweeted more than 11,000 times and earned almost 70,000 "likes."
